Re: First WARRANTY issue and more to come...

You'll find the same thing with folk that switch from JD to Kubota or Kubota to JD, or ya can put Massey, NewHolland,Mahindra, Kioti, LS, and any other brands in those places as well. Any brand has folk that have zero issues and are pleased, and others have folk that have nothing but issues and hate the given brand.

I've also seen many cases where one person has a horrible dealer experience and others have a great experience with the same dealer. I'm not saying there are no bad dealers, too many open and close and switch brands too often to be anything but bad dealers; but dealers are people too and sometimes people have bad days, have bad moods, and sometimes the users come in already Pee'd off about the unit not doing what they need. All of these short term problems can start the process out 'on the wrong foot' and create a long term issue.

I hope that's true for Mahindra's sake, or they will be out of business soon. I hope that others don't have the same problems I have had. I hope that others don't have their tractor in the shop more hours that they have used it. All I can report is what happens to me and what I hear from others. I hear from others that they don't have problems with their John Deere or Kubota's. I have had two Mahindra's and have had many problems. Therefore, if I sell the Mahindra and buy a John Deere or Kubota, I will have a more reliable tractor. That's my personal experience and I'm stickin' to it.

I don't think they're in danger of going out of business. The numbers say they're growing at a pretty good rate. I hope you can get your problems sorted out whatever route you choose to take. My personal advise would be to get the most out of your investment as possible.

Locally here there are no "good" dealers. Everyone of them has sold a few units with problems they were unable to properly repair. Most try, but aren't well trained. Most learn what they need about the various models as they go (my parts guy had no clue the 4035 had a redesigned fuel return line until I showed him one on a new one on their lot). Mahindra does seem to have a fairly high rate of "known issues" they have to go back and repair on units, which I'm sure overwhelms some new dealers also. My 4035 is from their "premium" line and there are several known issues & fixes for them. The fixes are making their way into the production line as well, but it seems to take a while. This is not something unique to Mahindra though. Every other brand has had their "problem spots" on certain models as well. Here it is mostly about "lucking out" and having one (of whatever brand) that rolled off the assembly line as sheer perfection, then wasn't damaged between the factory and your driveway... Whatever it is, the big thing is to use it enough to have any issues sorted under warranty.

Well, I guess tractors are like cars. When a factory is cranking out high numbers of a fairly complex machine there are bound to be issues. Nothing is perfect. I wasn't really upset with the leak in the steering box (it's made bu Eaton according to the mechanic). I was upset with the poor communication and not very timely action from my dealer.

Based on what I learned through conversation with the two different fellows who came out it seems that perhaps the owner is growing faster than he was prepared for and finally is making strides to get things under control. I hope so.

Other than the leak, the PTO switch and work light were pretty minor issues, everything has been fine. I tolled 50 hours yesterday, so time for the service. I got the filters from the dealer, but I'll buy engine and hydro oil myslef. I'm changing it all out, even though the service manual doesn't call for it.
