Perhaps you could email a link of this thread to your dealer and see if he would be OK with his business name as well as his posted here??

Unfortunately I think posting names is not allowed. Please correct me if I am wrong. On a plus note, MUSA does sort of watch these forums for issues people have with dealers and sometimes will step in and provide an assist to keep the customer happy. Worst case scenario, if you can't get calls back from the dealer, give MUSA a call and see what they advise.

The dealer was awesome when I was looking to buy. Very friendly, very knowledgeable went out of his way to make the sale. I had a good feeling when I bought. Hard to gauge the "service" part until you need it I guess.

On the good side, they did order a new steering box and it is here already. The mechanic is supposed to be here any moment to work on the tractor. A plus for me since I worked a double shift last night and don't have to go into the office until around noon, so have some time to be here while he works.

Looking forward to some seat time tomorrow to get some bush hogging done.

First WARRANTY issue and more to come...

I'm on my second Mahindra, and trust me, this is just the start of your woes. I am going to sell mine as soon as the dealer can get the problems fixed. The last warranty work cost close to $2000 for relatively minor work; I can't imagine this next trip is going to be cheaper. Luckily it's under warranty, I can't imagine how I would pay for all this work when the warranty is up (remember, it's only a two-year bumper-to-bumper). AND yes, when it's stuck in the shop, it's lost productivity in the field. :mur:

So, an update....after calling the dealer back in late May or early June(I forget when exactly) and explaining the issue, he seemed a little perturbed I wasn't able to bring the tractor to him (even though he was clear at purchase time he had a mechanic who makes house calls). I made sure of this because I don't have a trailer big enough to haul this thing.

Anyway, he said he would call me back because he was too busy that week.

Summer has been busy (wife had to have hip replacement) and so a month or so later the mechanic finally calls out of the blue (we had just talked a bout calling them back the day before). She had him call me at work and I was very clear with him to let me know a day he could come out and I can work my sched around it. I was also clear that there are three issues I needed fixed; 1. the leak, 2. the PTO switch needs replaced (have to keep mashing it to get the PTO to stay on) and 3. the rear work light has never worked since I bought the tractor (business owner has told me 5 or 6 times he'd send me a bulb in the mail, but I never got one). I also specifically told him that it will be due for the 50 hour service, that I will do it myself and I wanted a price for the filters and oil (engine and hydro) because I intend to change those even though the 50 hour service doesn't call for it. He said he would call me back.

About 3 hours later the wife calls me at work again and said the tractor guy was there to fix the tractor...huh? What part of "call me back and let me know" did he not understand? I made hasty arrangements with my boss and headed home (none too happy).

On the good side (sarcasm there) the leak is not the hose, but rather the seal around the top of the steering box where the steering wheel mounts. He said he didn't know if they will want to replace the seal or the entire steering box. He did not bring a bulb for the rear work light (or even look at it, for that matter). He did replace the PTO switch, which seems to work.

He had no idea what the filters, hydro and engine oil would cost.

That was the beginning of last week and I haven't heard a peep from them since.

Wife called yesterday and the lady who answered the phone was as clueless as a baby in a nipple factory. Wife said she couldn't even pronounce Mahindra correctly and kept asking my wife if it was a Mahindra we had because they sell other brands. She said she'd have the owner call us back. Of course, he never called.

Wife called today and talked to the owner and he said he would check to see if the steering box had come in (I guess that means they are replacing the entire thing), but the parts guy was out doing something.

Geez, summer is going to be over and I have a buttload of field to cut....sigh. Not happy with this dealer at this point. Their communication is not good and their follow up is poorly lacking. The owner was very attentive when he was selling it to me, but after the sale...hmmppphh.

More to come I guess when/if I ever get it fixed.

Re: First WARRANTY issue and more to come...

What kind of problems are you having?

Mechanic showed up yesterday morning as promised, fixed everything up and all is now good. This guy was a new hire, been with this dealer about 2 months. Nice kid, did good work. Seems the dealer is finally waking up that he has a lot of customers and things to get done so he's finally hiring more folks. Maybe a good sign.

He said in the time he's been with the company he's not had to fix any major issues with a Mahindra, mostly leaks and some electrical stuff.

I just got off the tractor, did about 4 hours of hogging this morning, everything working perfectly now.

If you care to look, I would bet that you can find this same scenario with every brand. That does not help you, but it is not a Mahindra only type of thing, it can happen with any of them. I happen to have 2 Mahindra tractors, a 7520 for the past 10 years and a 3215 for the past 8 years and both have been good reliable machines. Now I do not use these commercially and am only a weekend type user, but they have been good to me, that much I know.

Good luck with your repairs and your choice of your new machine. ;)

That's unfortunate BBB. I took a good hard look at the 4010 before I purchased the 3016. Only thing that stopped me was my wife stating, "it's too big to fit in the wood shed". Otherwise it looked super sweet to me. Big , bold build and looked super strong for it's size.

Thats a shame -funny how the dealers are so helpful when they want to sell a machine then become much less interested when you really need them. Good luck!

The above are problems I have had and posted about OR others posted issues that I had.

Mahindra USA does not give two sh**s about the problems I have had. I have been waiting since April when Steve Gillian from Mihindra USA told me he had parts coming for the temperature problem on the 4010. I have left several messages and still continue to leave messages with him or Brenda (the other customer service rep) and both refuse to call back. The 4010 was a huge mistake and had I had a clue of these problems, I would have kept the 3016 I traded in for it. I continue to have to fix the issues they refuse to address, the next one is going to be this loader issue (if I can't sell it first).

The dealer (Burnips Equipment, Michigan) has a decent service department but the owner refuses to return my phone calls.

I am a weekend warrior with the tractor and most of the issues are defects from the design. I have had other brands and use them the same way I use the Mahindra and never had a breakdown. I have heard from others that have gone from Kabota to Mahindra and they have nothing but problems and regret for buying the Mahindra.
