Hi all, Have a brantley backhoe that I am replacing all the hoses on and noticed that on 3 or 4 of the orb fittings on the valves that they are I guess restricted or metered. They're not like the other fittings on the valves. The opening in the fitting itself is only about 1/16th of an inch verses 1/4 inch on the rest of the fittings. They all look the same until you remove them off the valves then you see the difference....... If I remember right they are on the boom and swing valves. I'm not 100 percent positive without going outside and looking but it's too cold to go outside right now

Any experts out there on this??? as to why its setup that way and do they have to be like that?

Thanks, david

they are restrictors so that the function doesnt move too fast, some things like swing in particular are very hard to control or can be dangerous if they move too fast so by restricting the flow to them it keeps them at a more reasonable top speed. its common on garbage truck back doors to have no restrictor on the lift circuit but a small hole restrictor on the lowering circuit to keep the door from coming crashing down too fast if the lever was pushed all the way, same thing with some backhoe booms and other functions. they are on certain circuits for a reason, so dont go moving them around!

Okay, thanks Mark. I wasn't sure about them, didn't know if it affected the flow, speed, pressure and what not.... 'preciate the info and advice. I'll leave em be. good thing for makin diagrams when pullin stuff apart
