on the side of the plastic stearing wheel quadrant i drilled a 1 1/2" hole on either side and plugged them with faucet hole plugs.

now when i have the wheel sticking i remove the plugs and blow the dirt and dust out with an airhose.

one thing i learned is DONT USE OIL

i replaced the tilt mech myself

it is one sorry piece of engineering

i dont recomend that you pull yourself up by the stearing wheel or squirt oil into it.

I have a new 4410 and have had the dealer replace parts in it (the tilt stering wheel) twice. It is a terrible design and JD should come up with a newly designed replacement for it. It's the only complaint I have with the machine but it's kinda central to using it don't ya think? /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I had never touched the tilt on my 4310 for the two years that I owned the tractor. When I read about the sticking problem here, I checked mine and it too was stuck. I sprayed it with WD40 and it has been fine ever since.
