Mowing Flail Mower for DK35

   / Flail Mower for DK35 #11
Very Interesting discussion: I have inheireted 2 - 6foot flail mowers. I think both are Ford's. The design of the knives are quite a bit different design than the picture shown. They look sort of like upside down T's. Apparently you can take them off and sharpen them or replace as needed. I hooked my DK35 up to one and it seemed rotate fine, but when I got into some heavy stuff the belt started slipping and would not cut. Adjusted it out all the way and I think it is still a bit loose. Looks like both units have been sitting for quite a while. I was wondering about the feasibity of using this machine on my farm that has some pretty rough ground. My Dad used these to cut Baseball/Softball diamonds. He liked the look of the grass when done. I think the roller behind and the way it tends to suck the grass up it did a good job of cutting grass.

Sounds like these flails are old enough that you might need to replace the belts.
