Maybe the flail type is not a true finish mower, I don't know much about them.
What are the advantages / disadvantages of one vs. the other ?
The area I'm mowing has a fair amount of "humps and bumps".
There are no rocks or other objects, just grass.
I'm looking at a 6' Mott. Do they require any more power than a rotary ?
How about maintenance on all the flail knives ?
The Mott is used, any thoughts on what to look for on the machine and cost ? ( about 4 yrs old and looks in good shape )
Thanks, GrayBeard

I don't think a flail mower can be compared to a finish mower. They're more for rough stuff - like rotary cutters. I've been told they're quieter, and therefore specified for mowing in/around quiet zones - like hospitals. Highway departments use them because they're less weight at the end of a boom, and don't throw debris back up on the road surface.
