It is just a reminder that a service is due. It will go away after a while by itself. The one on my JD mower flashed 1 hour before service was due and one hour after and then stopped.
My 4210 has flashed once the key is in the run position from new. As far as I know it is a reminder to you that the hour meter is "counting"
