What can I expect to pay to have a flat on a front tire and rear tire if I take it in to a shop? Hope I don't have to for a long time . but I dread the day when I get a stob or puncture in either front or back.I am sure the price varies from a dealer shop to a tire center ,but just curious the range of prices I can expect. thanks

If you add tire sealent to them you will probably never have a flat. :) Tire sealent = preventative maintenance for tires.

I think you'll find the range to vary considerably. At least it did in my area. But assuming it can be patched without replacing a tire and/or tube, and depending on whether or not you have tire sealant in it that has to be cleaned out first, and depending on whether or not the tire is filled with water, antifreeze, rim guard, calcium, etc. to start with, and depending on whether you want the tire re-filled . . . . I'd expect the cost to be somewhere between $7.50 and $50.00.:)

If the tire is sealed with a sealant, then it cannot be patched. The sealants work really good, but are not 100%. If you have sealant, then you will need to put a tube in the tire when it goes flat. Some holes are just too big for the sealant to work. Cost of a tube is around $10 to $20.

If you do't have sealant, I can get a tire patched for around $10.

I don't go to car tire repair shops, but to a big rig tire shop that does work on 18 wheelers and such. They know how to work on tractor tires and don't charge you extra.

you can DIY how to plug a tire

Just don't do what I did and put a new hole in the tire while you are pluggin what you thought was the holeflat tire 101

Turns out my hole was in the sidewall - new tube & labor was ~$40 at the tractor dealer.

I've plugged my front turfs a few times, then got smart & put slime in them - no problems since.

There are tire sealants that do not effect placing a tire patch on at a later date. Some completely wash off with water.

Slime has really worked well for me. I get the flat front tire on jack and support it on jack stand. rotate the tire and identify the puncture, mark it with a chalk. Empty a can of green slime in there, rotate the tire and leave the puncture hole facing down so tire pressure pushes the stuff out. I usually keep it for a while so it can cure well. The reaming slime stays in for the next time. One time I had a puncture hole due to a nasty locust thorn:mad: but when I parked the tractor in the shade apparently hole was facing up and as a result did not get the slime in it for repair. when I came back I saw the flat. I then pumped air in to the tire and saw (heard the hiss) the hole. again jacked the site up and secured it with jack stand and rotated the tire 180 degree so the hole faced down, immediately stuff started to ooze out. In the last 5 month I had 3 front tire hole and the same bottle of slime saved the day for me. As others mentioned it will not repair a tire slash but hole it will. I have not had a side wall hole but I reckon if I take the wheel off and force the slime ooze out of the whole it'll do the trick.
