After cleaning off my mower deck a couple of times with the deck wash feature it finally dawned on me what was burning a nice circle pattern in the lawn...the exhaust!

Has anyone else run into this yet? It takes a good 5 minutes of sitting there at full throttle while the water cleans off the deck. There's probably no easy fix to this unless you have some pipe to deflect it up or over.

I guess the easiest fix will be to wet the grass down well first that way it can cook rather than burn /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif. Or maybe but down a cement paver where the exhaust hits to help the grass out. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Mine points pretty much straight forward through the hood. No way for it to burn the grass. Is yours made differently?

Steve, there's a bunch of posts in regards to this on the pre 2006 2K series (maybe 3K's as well). The muffler sits low & the radiant heat it gives off will kill grass if you sit in one spot too long. The muffler also throws a LOT of heat on the PTO belt and belt guide pullies. IMO, the exhaust change for 2006 is a great thing.

Well after mowing grass today and actually looking at the exhaust, it does point forward. I was only making claim from my living room window, so sorry for giving the wrong information.

My CC2554 is the 2006 model with the exhaust plenty high off the ground.

What I did find out after mowing my 1.5 acres is that when you stop and leave the tractor at full throtle there still is plenty of hot air going right down at your grass. Opening the hood seemed to help prevent 75% of the air flow from being directed toward the grass.

Thanks for the other post I will look at it.
