I am using Fleetguard Antifreeze with additives that I purchased at my local TSC store. I'm using it in a John Deere 770 diesel tractor (24 Hp). Can anyone tell me how often I should change this antifreeze. I understand the additives go bad after a while. Can I get by with changing the antifreeze once every two years? Thanks for your views on this matter.

You can have the antifreeze tested or get test strips I believe. However in that application I don't think there is a problem if you change it every 2 years.

Two years is about right but be sure to use only distilled water as the solute.

I would just replace the coolant. The tests strips are like $2 each I think, while the coolant is like $7 per gallon...

When I had my powerstroke diesel I only used strips to tests the SCA level. The freeze point etc was the normal way.

Thanks for your replies! I feel better knowing two year antifreeze changes are appropriate.
