Floor jack and stands, what's a good one?

I also just bought a hf floor jack. Pay a little attention to the model number. Both my brother and the hf sales guy said the only difference in their jacks was the color. I pointed out they all had different model numbers and also different specs and warranties. And different prices?

The hf guy got an attitude, I was being nice and just trying to help. I’d already bought mine on line because they are always out of the model I wanted. Shipping on that was expensive but, at hf, you can not order on line and pick up in store.

Mine is yellow, called Dakota or something and works great, just over $200?

It didn’t fix my fuel pump problem but it tried to help.

Also, hf has had a few issues recently re jack stands so, heads up.

It was all I could do not to pick up the back end of my old dead mini van with my big new tractor and crawl under. I know....I didn’t.

I have a 35 year old NAPA 3 ton floor jack that has been a real trooper. My jack stands are heavy built Black Hawk ratcheting, high dollar, but I would not trust my life to the cheaply made tripod stands.

I have a couple 2t trolley jacks, an HF aluminum "racing" jack, and a 3t Daytona jack from HF. The last one is the nicest to use but it's large and heavy and overkill for a small car. I got it because the others would not get my Tundra high enough. So pay attention to the max lift height. And the min height if you will also be working on low cars.

Also a wheel dolly makes mounting heavy truck wheels a lot easier.

I also have the arcan jack from costco. Its been great so far. But then I only use it about 4 or 5 times per year.

I have Omega 3 ton stands after my harbor freight jack stands got recalled. They are ok, but wish they double locked!

Im kicking myself for not asking TBN sooner!

I would like to have an aluminum one with quick lift, but can't justify it. Life is rough, having to pump a bunch to get contact with the vehicle! lol Actually it is, when you don't have much room for a full stroke.

Obviously it is very important to be careful with jacks and stands. Harbor Freight had a serious recall of their jack stands. I had a set. Then after the recall and replacements they posted that there were problems with the replacements. So, again, please be careful.

I bought a set of those fiber ramps and threw away those pressed steel ones that just looked too sketchy to work underneith.

I always have to think of the poor local wrecking yard operator who died, already amany years ago, being crushed while working under a vehicle.

minimum 6-10 ton jack stands. any of the Harbor heavy duty 3 ton floor jacks will easily lift it. Can easily lift my F350 Dually.
You dont need a low profile jack. You have a truck.
