FLOPPY DISK

Unfortunately they are still required at times. Mostly for special software issues like a bios burn or an issue where a boot to floppy is required

For temporary storage, I've started using a USB flash memory drive like this Lexar JumpDrive. XP computers with USB slots read it just like a hard drive.

It is so handy and superfast. I keep it in my pocket like a small pocket knife, and it holds the equivalent of 100 "floppies". /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Mine's a 128 MB, 2.0 USB, and I got it at Fry's for $24 after tax and rebates.

That's cheaper than I paid for my 64mg from DELL /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif I agree though....pretty darn handy.

I have 2.......an 8MB I've had for years when they first came out, and a 128MB that I use to transport work back and forth from home to work........great things /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
