Florida Tornadoes This morning !!

I don't think it matters when the tornado is sucking up an asphault road on what above house structure you live in.

That's for sure. Pictures of the one that hit Jarrell TX several years ago showed several clean concrete slabs where brick homes had stood. Even the plumbing fixtures were gone.wushaw said:

I think it was back in the 70's when an aunt of mine that lives outside Cincinnatti had her VW bug stolen by a tornado. They never found it.

When you go to build that recreation center for the campground I hope in some way you are able to provide safe tornado prrof shelter for your guests. i know oyu are nto a fan of basements (understatement) but is ther another constuction method that would make a building tornado proof? something to think about for sure if you are in a area that gets tornados. 14 dead in Florida, my heart goes out for these people and their families.

That is the problem with construction down here in Florida, they do not put basements in, even in the houses that are high and dry like ours is.
The tornadoes hit about forty miles north of us. Soundguy has not posted since 1AM this morning, I do believe that he does live up in that area where they hit or real close. I do hope that he is OK.

After a little research, my best guesstimate is that Soundguy lives about thirteen miles northwest of Lady Lake where a lot of the damage was.

This morning is when I got the news of the bad tornado's moving through central Florida. My first thought was oh no not again.... We live in South Florida but our Ranch Property is right where I heard the storm was near. I called our neightbor next to our's there in the country, and was able to get through to them. I ask them if they were ok and he said they where lucky and he and family where safe. He also said our place was ok too... I said your sure, something sounds wrong ?
He said the storm past 2 miles south of us and extended 20 miles further to the south and 40 miles to the west and moved another 40 miles to the east coast to the Atlantic.
He told me he has lived his entire life in this area except when he was in the Marine Corps. And just to the south of us is a little town called Pasley and another larger town in Deland FL. And that 11 of his friends were killed in the storm today. I could feel his pain at that moment, and still now, it hurts writing about it. We were just there this past weekend and met some of them and said good-bye Sunday.
This has really been a hard day, my wife already gone to bed and I can't sleep. I thought maybe if I went on TBN, this might help... I'm sorry, I'm at a loss for words.

Big R jr 3. We share your pain for these folks. Waiting to see what and where donations can be sent. We have heard it was like the F5 that hit Brownsville TX a few years ago were even the blacktop was gone. God bless these poor people. You are in our prayers tonight. EL.
