Flu Season

After having my first kidney stone a couple of months ago, I think I'd rather have battled the flu for a few days. Absolutely the worst pain I've ever endured that lasted for about 12 straight hours. Can't even imagine dealing with those multiple times.

I had stones (and lithotripsy surgery) in 2007, and hope to never go through that experience again. I spent 4-5 days going through it before they got me in for surgery. It's one of the worst pains known to man, on par with childbirth according to all the nurses who were taking care of me (they seemed gleeful when pointing out that fact to me -- I think every nurse in the ER popped in to see me and tell me that). Since then I drink a LOT of water and am paranoid about any pain in the back/side area. I'll probably never get over that fear.

Ditto on the water, ditto on the paranoia. I suspect that is the typical behavioral change for anyone going through that.

Being a service connected disable Vietnam vet, I always get flu shot at local VA (that's a story too). Anyway, Christmas Day, me old throat started burning, oh me, here it comes. Yep, that ridiculous flu that wasn't covered by me shot. Fever, body aching like I'd been beat with old Lindsey Brown's hand satchel, couldn't walk straight, back ache. Y'all know. Flu mess. Better now, but let's see...25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, yep, that'd be seven days so far. At least I can walk better... Hang in boys, hang in.

I lost 12 pounds. Heck of a way to go on a diet!

Boy, I've had something over the last three weeks that doesn't match the symptoms described herein. Mine consisted of:
>extreme fatigue
>no stamina
>no desire to do anything but rest
>listless
>a hacking productive deep cough that hurt in my lungs and tasted like sickness
>ribs got sore from the persistant and long coughing fits
>poor sleep because of waking up coughing

Not too bad parts:
>appetite was OK, not great
>playing video games was a passive activity (have played in years) that distracted from the misery
>bowel functions were OK

Last night was the best one during this illness. Only woke up once due to coughing rather than 8 to 10 times per night.

Now I have three weeks of back work to make up. The trees need two to three days of pruning, hauling, chipping. Maybe I'm ready to start, but at a slower pace than usual. Once the slightest bit of fatigue appears, that will be time to pack it in for the day.

I;d say you had pneumonia or bronchitis.

I think we had it, but hard to tell exactly what it was without getting tested. But it was a full week of bleh and another 4-5 days before we were right again.

Same here, It started for me on Thanksgiving day.
