QUOTE=TripleR;4675097]My mom is 94 and gets regular flu shots and hasn't had any issues; coincidence? Maybe or maybe not.

If I was going to model my life after what happened to one person, I doubt I'd leave the house; to each his own.[/QUOTE]

The ones that used the live virus use to make my wife sick, but she started taking the new kind when we had infant grand children around and she has done fine.

First time this year for me at 67.Total of four shots, seems I have a compromised immune system.Never any reactions.Seems I have(had) and over-active immune system and they are treating me for that;so I needed the shots.Rarely even had a cold.

Absolutely. I have a compromised immune system (leukemia) and my hematologist makes sure I get one.

If you ever had the flu real bad, so sick that you were sick of being sick, sometimes wishing someone would just put you out of your misery.... then you might want to get the shot. You can still get the flu if the shot doesn't cover the krap you got.... Full blown flu is nasty..... I get one every year since the 80's....

I get it every year. For some reason I get bronchitis every year right after taking it. I don't understand that part of it. Perhaps they have changed the formula? I did have pneumonia at the age of 6 and plan on getting that shot at 60.

I take one every year; no ill effects, no flu. Of course I had two bouts with the flu back about 50 years ago that were very intense. May have built up some immunity; never had anything close to that since. I took a pneumonia shot recently, and was miserable for about three days. One day felt really bad; arm swelled and developed rash and was extremely sore.

I get my flu shot every year, SWMBO is the one who administers it, so how could I not? Also got the pneumonia shot three years ago, passed on the shingles shot since I never had chicken pox.

Id rather take my chance taking the flu shot than not taking it, full blown flu can be a killer

Yes, also get the flu shots as well as pneumonia shots.
Got mine early Nov.
Shingles I'm thinking about but the $150. price tag kinda deters me. (some want up to $250)
The Quebec medicare system won't cover that shot cost.
My sister has a bad case of shingles, enough that she is using cortisone.

Flu shot or not, I today feel simply like crap, guess it is my biannual 'severe cold', just a bit late as usually catch it over the Xmas holiday.
Always figured that my 'clock' planned it so as to not short change my employers due to sick leave.
Even when self employed that annual cold would hold off 'til the Xmas season.

I have been avoiding taking them for decades. Took some a few decades ago, and got the flu. I am not "anti-vaccination" and I am not saying I might not take one in the future as I get older, but I have survived fine without them.

Same here..
