I recently purchased a MF 1120 with a 1242 FEL. It currently has 280 hours on it and I am getting ready to change the oil and hydraulic fluid as well as the filters. Is there anything special I have to do with the FEL before draining the old hydraulic fluid?

I don't do anything with the FEL.

I am assuming you are concerned over the 'old' oil that remains in the system of the FEL. It doesn't amount to that much, IMO, and if the cylinders are 'shortened' as much as possible, not much will be left. There will be oil elsewhere that you also won't drain out, and for the most part, the bulk of the oil will be changed.

The only thing you need to do with the FEL is lower it all the way to the ground and turn off the engine, then move the FEL joystick around in all directions to release any pent up pressure.

Then change the hydraulic oil. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
