Fluid Film and New Tractor

Lathe chucks, tool post, tool holders, stored tool and drill bits, milling vise, rotary table, indexer, boring tools and stored boring bits. And the usual drill press table and assorted punch-press machines around the shop. I use it on just about everything made of steel or iron that isn't painted. If you're using it under a mower deck, it will have to be reapplied after each cut and clean. I wonder how long that regiment will last. ;)

The lanolin is the key ingredient. I make my own mix and put it in a spray bottle. A pound of lanolin will go a LONG way.

Sounds to me like a gummy mess on the undercarriage of any tractor. I'll pass, thank you. Both my Kubota's are early 2000 models. No rust underneath anywhere (and I farm with them).

"If it moves but doesn't have a dedicated grease nipple (zerk) spray it"

Lots of fluid film fans here, and I do have some.
I much prefer LPS-3 though, as it has a brown color, and thus is easy to see.
Fluid film is almost clear.
LPS-3 has a mil. spec., does Fluid Film??

I agree... I don't use actual "Fluid Film", but I do use a lanolin based lubricant spray that I buy at my local hardware shop.

Isn't that what Elvis Presley used on his hair?

Fluid Film WAS Lanolin based, got a lot of government contracts too and don't hurt supposedly a woman owned company.
Note WAS. Whole company got bought up and is now unit of Momster Company.
NO MORE LANOLIN in Fluid Film. Still got all government contracts though! Taxpayer gettin screwed.

Make yer own way cheap
3 parts Lanolin
3 parts mineral oil
7 parts mineral spirits.

As an alternate to Fluid Film, if you are a heavy user. The local automotive underspray company (Krown, in my case) collects all the overspray in a sump, filters it, and sells in bulk (5 gallon pails IIRC) to local heavy equipment/Ag. In an area of heavy winter salt use, it is a less expensive way of providing rust protection to a vehicle. A lot of tractors in this area are used for snow removal at the local malls.

Nother thing works real good is roof coating if you can find one ain't water based.
Old fashioned paint pot & spray gun gets it on, only stinks a few days.

Motor oil not so good, its designed to absorb & retain water.

I'm a heavy user but most undersprays are toxic. FLUID FILM is classified as non-toxic and non-hazardous and contains less than one percent VOC content. It's like rubbing a sheep on your tractor.

No idea what kind of sheep you got, but Fluid Film ain't been near Lanolin for over 4 years.
You best read a current MSDS

Also 3pt hitch "balls" where the pins go thru.

Agreed, any exposed balls and non painted surfaces get FF, and store them inside.

I don't coat any painted parts, as that just attracts a lot of dust, but you cant avoid overspray.
