I've run across a few postings that mention something called fluid film. Can anyone elaborate on this product? Pros vs cons and what exactly is it for? Thanks , sorry if this is a stupid question ... Newbie here.

+1 on Fluid Film. Inhibits rust and it doesn't evaporate like WD40. Keeps metal looking shiny and new.

50/50 mix of acetone and ATF is also a good solution to rusty bolts and rust prevention. Much better than WD40 and similar products. Also.....much cheaper. Use it all the time in the shop.......I call it the miracle solution.

I like to use fluid film on the shiny hydraulic cyl rods to protect them when long idle, and also I sometimes spray it on tools that may have gotten a bit damp.

I can honestly say, Fluid Film is good stuff. I don't ever plan on being without it.

Fluid Film is not a penetrant. It is a more of a rust inhibator and coating, or a lubricant. If you need a penetrant, any of the home remedies suggested are great, but they will not be as effective or hold up as long as Fluid Film will in its intended purpose.

I spray the underside of my truck every year going into winter. I also spray my plow quite often. I put a coat on any of the unpainted areas of the tractor pretty often too. LOVE me some Fluid Film!

John Deere used fluid film to cover an entire cotton picker, preparing it for a long boat ride to Turkmenistan, which is a country in central Asia. It would shed off the salty sea water that would occasionally spray onto it while crossing the Atlantic ocean.

It must be good stuff to work in those conditions.

Great stuff...use it quite frequently and I always have one or two cans on hand.

Looks like another wonderful product/tool to add to my growing maintenance shed assets. I hadn't heard of this product and Googled an Aussie supplier... Sure enough, although it's not common down here, there is a supplier.

This should have many applications where I'm located as, on stormy days, I can hear the roar of the coastline surf. Which means that there will be a percentage of salt in the air and, being retired Navy, I well know the damage that can do.

Once again TBN & it's contributors to the rescue!

Looks like some AutoZone stores carry it.
I'll have to give it a try.

If it's good enough to get its own mil specs, it's good enough for our place.
No luck at my local AutoZone, so I took the TBN discount offer and sent in my order.
