According to the Parts List for the Model HB580 Power Broom, the 25-Micron filter (Ventrac No. 21.0001) on the Power Broom is Zinga No. AE25, which cross references to the Donaldson P551553.
The R05 Parts List for my Model 4500Y Tractor describes the 25-Micron filter (Ventrac No. 21.0122) as, "SYN," which I take to mean that it has a Synteq Synthetic filter medium. Donaldson employs the Synteq medium in some of its spin-on filters.
A quick look at the
Donaldson Hydraulic Filtration Product Guide shows that the Donaldson No. P560694 has a ゚(x(c)) rating of 23 オm and a Synteq filtration medium. However, I do not know if it is an appropriate candidate, as it is rated at a maximum working pressure of 150 PSI. This filter appears on numbered page 32 (page 36 of 320)
The R05 Parts List for my Model 4500Y Tractor describes the 10-Micron filter (Ventrac No. 21.0124) as "CEL," which I take to mean that it has a cellulose filter medium. So far, I have not found an exact replacement for the 10-Micron filter. Also appearing on numbered page 32 of the Donaldson Guide is No. P560693, which is about two inches taller than the Ventrac No. 21.0124, which has a ゚(x(c)) rating of 11 オm, and which has a Synteq filtration medium. Also appearing on numbered page 32 is No. P565062, which is also about two inches taller than the Ventrac No. 21.0124, which has a ゚(x(c)) rating of 10 オm, and which has a water-absorbing filtration medium. It looks like there is sufficient clearance on the Model 4500Y to accommodate a filter that is 5.35 inches (136 mm) tall like the No. P560693 or the No. P565062.
I note that, in
another thread, which concerns a Steiner No. 21-093 filter,
Raw Dodge stated:
[....] The stock steiner filter is a 10 micron...it is a good filter but it's not necessarily the best micron rating. The 10 micron is more restrictive especially in cooler weather, since the pump sucks thru the filter it's very important. The 25 micron filter is less restrictive on the hydraulic pump, and will improve performance and reduce noise slightly. Also 25 microns is what Sunstrand recommends ..So I recommend an aftermarket filter with a 25 micron rating..the only time I use the 10 is right after the system has been open, I would run it a week and switch to a 25.We use Zinga filters. My Ventrac/Steiner dealer is who told me about this many years ago...We use an AE25, it's about 7 bucks...
I assume that by "not the best micron rating" RD means that the more stringent filter medium has a negative effect on the flow rate through the filter. However, I wonder if using a 25-Micron filter in place of the recommended 10-Micron filter would result in increased wear of internal hydraulic components due to the greater number of sub-25-Micron particles that would circulate in the hydraulic fluid because the filter medium would not trap them. I really do not know one way or the other.
