Fluids and oils fx255

Hi all
New guy looking for some info. I have a fx255 that I am more then happy with. I have had it for about a year. I would like to change out the fluids and oils. What oils are required for the engine, PS, front axle and hydraulic system/ trans? Is a Yanmar brand filter required for the hydraulic system or is there an aftermarket brand available? I already have the engine oil and air filters. Is the rather large metal reservoir on the left front of the engine bay next to the battery for the PS fluid? It has a yellow cap and no dipstick. What is the level supposed to be?

You covered the engine oil and the and the Hyd fluid.
What about the fuel ?
Red or Clear.

Brad I see you are a new member>>> Welcome.... not many of us have the fx model tractors.. Mabe mickeyfx will chime in & tell you more about your fx.... If you don't have one .. you might check with one of the dealers here & see if they have an owners manual for your FX. I can tell you that most of us use JD303 or equivalent hyd oil .. Some others use transmission fluid instead of the JD303

Thanks for the welcome Kenmac. I was thinking about using tranny fluid. I don't have a JD dealer anywhere close. Does anyone know about the reservoir? I think it is for the PS, but not sure. How about the axle oil? Is it just gear oil or is it tranny fluid also?

Why do you need a JD dealer ?? JD dealer probably woldn't help you anyway (some will some won't) You can pick up JD 303 equivelant hyd fluid most auto parts stores. I could tell you that your front is probably 80w90 but this may not be correct for your FX . If you can get an owners manual it would tell you all fulid types & the capacities

I didn't realize there was generic or other brand equivalents to JD303. I will check it out tomorrow at the local auto parts.
Trouble with getting the owner's manual is that I am leaving to go to my property in a few days. I wanted to get the fluids done before I left. I am taking the tractor out to my rural property which is located in another state.

Heres what I use in my FX255-D

eng.= chevron delo 400 15-40 or synthetic oil shell rotella

eng filter = napa #1064


Trans.= ATF automatic trans fluid= mercon dextron

Power steering tank = ATF

front axle = 90 weight gear oil

radiator = 50-50 mix

fuel= red farm diesel with power service added.
