Fluids / Lube New to me Ford 550

TractorData.com Ford 555 backhoe-loader tractor information

Not sure this is your hoe but it states 21.5 gallons. Our JD I checked holds 20.5 gallons of fluid. The manual listed on the left of the page is not cheap and I remember I paid a lot of old OEM shop manual off of ebay but they can same you major bucks.

in a cold area.. you actually might benefit from a 5w40 C synthetic.. otherwise I'd run a (whatever) 15w40 C rated oil.. etc. whatever you put in it now will be better than what was available when it was made...

That is good oil but $22 a gallon at WM. There is cheaper stuff out there that will prevent metal to metal contact when the engine is running.

At $5.50 a quart for synthetic oil.... I think that is a fair price.
