Flux Core vs MIG - best YouTube comparison I've seen

Agree. But I've never found a YouTube video with a good comparison of FC wires. We should suggest that to Project Farm!
I generally have bought my flux core from Amazon and have read those reviews.
I also buy name brand wire, not the generic brands.
My last wire was Forney 42300 mild steel.
Very little splatter to clean up.

I've only ever had experience using flux core with a small suitcase style 110v welder. I'll build something out of wood before I trust the little units. I don't seem to ever be able to get any penetration.
Try leaving a root gap - 1/16-1/8" and see if it makes a difference. Also vary your distance between the gun and the work piece. Both of those should produce noticeable differences. about 30 years ago my first wire feeder was a 120v Century welder. With tight gaps I would sometimes produce cold looking beads. Leaving a decent root gap and I was able to squeak out all the power I could from that little welder.
