Well......I may end up not having them filled just yet. Price isnt terrible, 102 per tire plus tax for the 7x16's. He said they would hold 76# per tire @ 1.35 per pound. That is the cheapest quote. But an hour away, and making two trips, and being without the tractor for 2-3 days.

Local shop though dont do the foam but Inquired what they reccomended to protect against thorns. They said they have thorn guard (not sure if thats the trade name or just what they call it) that they could put in there and it would be $3.50 per pint, and they would put 5 pints in each tire.

So for ~$40 and having the tires back on the tractor inside of an hour, I may give this a try. But if it dont work, I'll wait til winter when I dont need the tractor as much for bushhogging, I may get them foamed.

Yea, I think I am going to have him do it. I'll find out exactally what it is when I get it done.

For $3.50/pint, thats still cheaper than berrymans or slime if I did it myself.

This guy is just right down the road, and it takes 2 minutes to take the tires off.

Yeah that is not a bad price. The good news is, even if it don't work out, you haven't lost a whole lot of money.

Thats my line of thinking. If it dont work, I'll just nurse it through till the winter when I can afford to be without the tractor for a few days while getting them foamed.

My second hand MF came with foam filled 750X16s the ribs were sparating fom the carcass on both tires. It may have been because of a stuck differential lock. I don't blame the foam. The quote I got for new tires, new foam and disposal of the old tires and foam was just short of $1000.00. I got used aircraft tires mounted with wheels included, instead. If I remember right, the price was less than $400.00. I haven't used the tractor enough to say how they'll work out. One problem I had was that the aircraft tires were of greater diameter than the tractor tires rasing the front end. I had to adjust the loader to compensate.
If you already have good tires you might try liners and tubes. They helped a great deal 30+ years ago. In those days there were local recappers who'd buff out an old tire carcass and use it for a liner.

The liners I looked at cost as much as the foam. ~$92 or so + shipping.

Aircraft tires wont work unless they come in AG tread.

I thought 'thorn guard' was a liner?

Surprised you have to make two trips?

I was able to do it in one... I had lunch and went to a supply house and they were ready for pickup... just said to leave them lay flat for 24 hours.

They discouraged me from taking them same day. They wanted to make sure it was done right. But the bigger issue was if I did take them, I would have to wait ALONG time. They only fire the machine up at the end of the week. And they fill SEVERAL tires all at once. I am sure mine would just go into the pile and the guy wouldnt stop to let me pick mine up. I would have to wait til he was done with everything, then get them.
