Someone please tell me I'm wrong.....
Changing all fluids on YM2500, Drained and added new antifreeze..........Foam coming out the top. See picture. Only thing I know that will do that is air being injected into the cooling system via blown head gasket or a cracked head or block. Though it still runs fine.

Any other ideas? ....Please...

Never seen that before. Are you sure you didn't use dishwashing liquid /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif?
I would drain, flush, refill with plain water, and check for bubbles in radiator when starting cold. That would indicate blown head gasket, etc.

Is it milky?or foamy? Milky means that oil is getting into the coolant. A bad sign! Foamy could be a compression leak or something in the water. I would flush the system and add fresh water out of a clean source.

Also, look at the condition of the oil on the oil dip-stick. If it appears like a milkshake (foamy) then anti-freeze is leaking into the oil circuit.

Best bet is a bad head gasket.

Is that TOO foamy to be a head gasket/cracked block? I would stick the water hose down the filler neck and turn it on low and then start the tractor and flush the radiator for a while. That looks to me like maybe somebody put some dish soap into the radiator to clean things out.

keeping my fingers crossed...

Edit: Start out with a cold tractor when you do this so that the cool water does not crack the block, but I think you already know that. Keep the water hose out of the fan. Don't trip on the water hose. Your mileage may vary. Do not take orally. Not to be used as a prybar. There, Did I leave anything out?

Update: Tried the flushing with water till clear, and start cold. No help, still got the foam. Thanks for the suggestions guys!!

Finally got ahold of my mechanic. He said 90% certain head gasket or head is leaking. 3 weeks before he can get it in the shop. (it's hay season here). Since I use my YM2500 to rake hay, he suggested try some K&W block sealer as a temporary fix. I did. Followed directions exactly, and seems to be working.

I think it got overheated last fall when I was brush hogging some fescue and scrub oak. The screen in front of the radiator got plugged up with fescue seeds and engine got really hot. I hate idiot lights. Replacing with guages while it is in the shop.

The price of education is still high! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif
