Folding ROPS - do you always put it up?

/ Folding ROPS - do you always put it up? #11
Maybe I belong on the earlier post. I never take it down and I always wear the seatbelt. I must have read the "safety" thread too much when I was getting my habits set....stories of people being run over by their own tractors or rolled onto.

I wonder if there's an age profile to those who do or don't keep the ROPS up and the belt on? (not sure if older means pre-safety consciousness or more willing to take time to buckle etc.)

If I had ROPS, I would have it up when I was operating. I am going to build a ROPS for my Yanmar, winter project, and will probably not build a folding unit. In fact, my master plan is a cage with a top. One that can be winterized with a canvas kit.

Of course that may turn out to be just a dream. We'll see after the rear part is finished.

The other Folding ROPS thread was mine. I do always run with the ROPS up, even though my lot is fairly flat and I have to mow under trees.

I get close to the trees by backing my RFM under them instead of trying to do a drive by. When a drive by in necessary I bend over double and get my head down to the dashboard to keep from getting smacked in the face. My shed is high enough so I can drive the tractor in with the ROPS up. Basically the only time I fold it is if I am going into my garage for maintenence.

The odds of a tipover on my property are about nonexistant but I feel it is a good safety practice to be in. I also wear the seatbelt 95% of the time.
