The 4300 is here and after listening to everyone's advice, I orderd the tooth bar, had hooks welded on to the FEL bucket and also ordered a rear work light and lights for the ROPS (thanks to MJB). My questions is, do I have to have all of these lights on (including the headlights) at the same time. Did MJB wire his to seperate switches and if so where did you mount the switches. The lights and brush gaurds to mount them have been ordered and are being put on next week. It seems like there would be many times where you would not want all of the lights on at the same time. I am just not sure if doing any kind of "custom" wiring would be worth the expense or the hassle. Thanks - Matt

Good luck with lights on the ROPS. I am forever damaging the lights on mine running through brush and near trees.

John,

Now how did you mount that light???

Is it a JD unit or your design?

I bought 3 Hobbs 4x6 flood lamps and used cheap {69-79 cents} threaded rod to mount on the inside of the rops...

The JD lamps were a much smaller lens, and I think only 35w. as Hobbs is 55w.

I installed weather proof switches on two lamps for more control, and the third lamp mounted on a magnet mount with an extended coil dc cord for rear implements and/or to be more versatile...

The ROPS lights on my 4300 are controlled by the factory switch on the dash. The switch has 4 positions:

1: Everything off
2: Warning flashers only
3: Headlights and flashers
4: Headlights and ROPS lights, no flashers

I don't know how the factory reverse work light is switched, but it is probably hooked in with the ROPS lights. I have not broken any of my lights yet while working in the brush, although I did bend one of the ROPS light mounting brackets slightly when I had a close encounter with a tree./w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif Nothing a slight re-adjustment would not fix. Incidentally, I also bought the high output alternator (55 versus 40 amps) on my tractor because I might get a cab with the associated heater fan, wipers, and additional lights sometime in the future. (Insert Tim Allen grunt here) I am sure that the standard alternator could handle all the available factory lights without any problem. Hope this helps.
