Re: followup on \'D\' for 4wd

It is true that the helper might be saying things in error that the actual dealer wouldn't say or would correct. On the other hand, the helper is a representative of the company--can he sell you parts or a tractor or not? If he can, the dealer is responsible for his representations--true, false, or in between.

Re: followup on \'D\' for 4wd

<font color=red>"This is crazy, you still haven’t talked to the dealer. The mechanic/helper is not the dealer"

<font color=black>You assume much. I have in fact talked to the dealer. Back on the 19th when I posted that they claimed they were JD manufactured, and that pretty much answered my questions. The dealer is the one providing the info to the helper.. which by the way, isn't a mechanic.. just a 'here, hold this, guy.

The dealer, is an older guy.. a bit odd, but not too bad I guess. He has a tractor junk yard.. but if you call it that, he gets offended...he'll say ( "yeah I salvaged a few tractors.. but it's not a junkyard" ) when in fact.. there are hundreds of tractor and truck carcasses laying around the 3-4 acre lot.

When i went up yesterday, he was in the process of removing the blades on a howse 4' brushhog and putting them on backwards so that a kubota b6k could use it ( reverse pto ).

And he does claim a factory rebuild on the yanmars.. even the 1401d which obviously has not had anythink taken apart on it....there is still old paint on every seal / gasket vissible on the engine... if it was rebuilt.. it was done via larcoscopic surgery from the oil drain hole...

The fx series tractor there was repainted.. badly.. probably with a spray bomb.... every wire ont he unit is frayed and bare.. frankly I would be afraid to start it..

A mf sitting up there has similar electrical handiwork.. gobs of frayed wires twisted and pigtailed together here and there... nice machine.. I feel sorry for the unsuspecting owner who gets stuck with any of his rebuilt tractors.

He has a decent amount of howse equipment sitting on the lot, 4' brushhogs, 5' finish mowers, and a rake or two.

All look new. but have been setting at least 2 seasons there based on the undergrowth, and minor rust.. but show no 'usage' wear on them.. just sitting in the elements wear.

As for the D.. he calls it a 1401D, but did not claim 4wd.

All that proves is ignorance.. as for the rebuild... that seems deceptive.. unless it was rebuilt.. oh 5 years ago.. then painted.. then left out to rot like most of the rest of the stuff on his lot......

A pitty too.. looks like there is some decnt stuff just waiting to be rescued from there.
His prices are about what I hear/see for similar models.. but not similar shape.
The howse equipment is still list.. but is obviously a bit weathered.

All in all, I'm still hopefull to get some parts out of him if I need them.. but service would be out of the question.

<font color=black>Yes as a matter of fact on the 19th, I did purchase a tranny oil dipstick from the helper, and yesterday, a set of rims / tires from the dealer himself.

Re: followup on \'D\' for 4wd

How is the dealer supposed to know what the mechanic is saying if know one talks to the dealer? If the dealer was standing right there that is a different story but if he is gone..... First rule of business. Competition is not half as dangerous as your own employees. Nothing worse than a guy who doesn’t give a crap with the keys to your livelihood. So what we now know for sure is that the helper can’t properly represent the tractors for sale……big shock. Most likely the helper and a fry cook at McDonalds have the same paycheck in common. Talk to the dealer.. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Re: followup on \'D\' for 4wd

I talked to his helper, not the dealer himself., and the helper wasn't to familier with what they were.. but kept repeating factory rebuilt.

Soundguy

If you talked to the dealer then fine. Sounds like the typical Sanford and Sons. I am glad you talked to him now there is no confusion. If somebody buys tractors that looks that bad (and I know how bad they can look /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif) then they shouldn’t be surprised when they get it home. Glad you talked to him.

Re: followup on \'D\' for 4wd

So the dealer says it is a 1401D. A misrepresentation at best because it clearly isn't. Sounds like a salvage job. People who were thinking about buying and researched it might be misled even if the dealer does not say it is a 4wd. Sounds like this guy has a big investment that is just rotting away in the wet climate. Overcharge for stuff and it sits on the shelf (or in the weeds). Probably doesn't do much business--Few parts, an occasional salvage, an implement or two.

Re: followup on \'D\' for 4wd

Soundguy, try Scott Lazenby 904 964-3052 "Lazenby's Equipment" in Hampton, Florida three miles south of Starke, Fl. I am picking up a Yanmar 1510D with Trailer, Box Blade and Tiller this coming monday and after so wheeling and dealing I am very satisfied with the warranty and service Scott will provide.

Scott also carries the Branson line of tractors as well as $25,000 inventory of Yanmar parts and a full time tractor mechanic. Go by and talk to him. Tell him David Blankenship recomended him.

Regards,
db

Re: followup on \'D\' for 4wd

What dollar amount are they being sold for?

I guess, in the end, if he's selling this for $50, it's a great deal.

If he's trying to get $10,000, then it ain't!!
