So kind of new to food plots... I had a tiller but my PTO cams would slip with it so I sold the tiller (instead of repairing the cams). In the trade I got a plow. Plan was (and no, I don't know what I'm doing) plow half then disk everything to see if plowing did anything useful.

Plowing went pretty easy. Sometimes went a wee bit too deep. It was a rough ride using the disks to level things out. I wanted to add extra weight to the disks to help them bite into the soil more so I mounted my Yard Tool on top and chained it down... easy 250 extra pounds. Love my grapple to be able to pick up all of my implements...

Final photo, the left side is Plowed and disked (the dark soil) right is just disked...

Plan next week is to disk again, rake. Might spray RoundUp again and wait two weeks before planting. Whitetail - winter greens.

The good thing about food plots is you can't really do it wrong. Just tear up the ground and plant your seeds. When do you actually plant your seeds there? Here, I wait until the end of September, which is when the heat breaks. If we get rain, I'll have a nice plot by the opener in November.

What is a PTO cam? I'm not familiar with that term.

Angle Iron frame Disc Harrows seldom have adjustable gang angles. If you had a box frame Disc Harrow the gang angles could be adjusted less aggressively for a second pass and the output would be a smoother seed bed.

I expect you appreciated the hydraulic Top Link when plowing.

I enjoyed your pictures. Interesting improvisation.

That harrow in the picture is adjustable all day long, the part that makes me nervous is the fact that it's not setting down and hitch pins secured in his Pat's quick hitch, and it should be, eventually if not corrected he will have a disaster. Maybe he just took the picture in the middle of hooking it up prior to using it.

Darn it, you got me... :D Guilty as charged. :ashamed: I did in fact noticed it before driving away (unlike my normal forgetfulness...)

I did think about taking another photo... but forgot :duh:

Usually any time in first part of August to mid-Sept. We normally get afternoon thunder showers enough to get it through the hot part of the summer. I plan to plant maybe half?? this weekend and throw out soybeans on the other half. Then the rest of it early Sept.

Coming into the front gate an young 8 pointer was eating under the apple trees... Saw him last year a couple times but never during the hunting season.

Also, yes this is disk is adjustable and not sure why I didn't think about setting it to a less aggressive setting.... :banghead:
