Being a lover of junk food I guess, I thought I would tout some of my favorite places I used to frequent. I hope this isn't construed as a solicitation. If it is, I guess feel free to delete it.

I grew up very near Cincinnati Ohio and am comfortable suggesting these to anyone. Sometimes during year I'll send something from the list for birthday, X-mas etc..

The Graeters ice cream is probably my favorite (DUH!)
All goodies typically are shipped in dry ice.

Graeters is ice cream
Montgomery Inn is bbq ribs that are VERY easy to make (heat & eat)
Skyline/Goldstar chili are Cincinnati chili at it's best in my opinion of course /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

If you dare the ribs, you can order an assortment of the Graeters AND Ribs AND chili... all from Montgomery Inn.

Again, I hope this isn't construed as an "illegal solicitation" as that isn't my intent /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif. If anyone tries any of these I would sure want to know how it turns out for you.

Richard,
Sounds good and even better if one was snow in for a couple of days. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

You only forgot one thing, /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif

Cincinnati? That's a foreign country, isn't it?/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I'd never heard of Graeters. Down here in Texas, most folks seem to think Blue Bell is the very best, but I just eat Schwann's; they deliver it right to my door (actually he'll even go put it in the freezer for us). And if I don't quit eating so much of it, I'm going to have to go buy bigger jumpsuits./w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif

Honestly, what would the folks from Cincinnati know about making Chili? /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif And with crackers at that./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif But it was nice of them to send us the twin sisters.

Thanks, Richard - Except for the fact that your post made me hungry at 12:15 am. Now I've got to go find something to eat before I can go to bed.

But don't worry about the "illegal solicitation". Around here, it's only considered that if you're advocating a particular brand of tractor. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I was thinking the other day about a footlong on a square toasted bun with sourkraut and mustard. Now thats health food.
Can you still get those nice square cut toasted on the grille buns up your way Thomas??

"footlong on a square toasted bun with sourkraut and mustard. "

Now thats sounds gooood!

Actually I took out (from the freezer) some German made brautwurst and a can of wine sourkraut (imoprted from Germany) and some homemade rolls for dinner tonite. I think I'll need to pick up some GOOD beer too!

So how many of you can I expect for dinner?

Aaah, Derek, if my tractor would run fast enough, I'd be there. My wife won't eat sourkraut (don't know what's wrong with her), so she buys the smallest cans available just for me.

I think sourkraut on a hot dog is almost unheard of in Texas and Oklahoma, but my parents learned about it when we lived in Baltimore when I was a baby, so I've been eating hot dogs that way all my life. However, you guys lost me on the "square roasted" bun. I don't guess I know what that is.

Bird a square roll is sort of just that, it has flat sides from the rolls being baked close together in the pan.

Then you take the roll and butter it up alittle and brown (toast) it lightly on the grille.

sourkraut and a weiner will work on a "cathead biscuit" for me[crazy/] I ordered a fresh unsmoked ham for Christmas this year.

Hey, Gordon, I eat those all the time; just never heard that "square roasted" terminology./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

When we were in Pennsylvania, we went to a county fair, and found a popular food there was an Italian sausage with grilled oinions and peppers in a bun. I still haven't seen that in this part of the country, except at our house where we fix them quite often; very tasty.

Bird guess what I had for dinner Italian sausage with fried onions!!! We didn't have any green peppers or they would have been on there as well. I read Dereks post on the brautwurst this morning and guess what I had the Mrs go buy from the butcher shop today----fresh Italian sausage---ummmmm ummmm goooood.

Yeah, Gordon! It would be mighty tasty even without the peppers, but I am very fond of those bell peppers in lots of things. I raise a lot of the green ones every year, but this was the first year I also grew some of the red ones and yellow ones. My favorite way is to put a little of each color with those onions and sausage, which is what they were doing up there in Pennsylvania at the county fair.
