foot throttle

I was reading an article in Green Magizine talking about the beauty of customization in antique JDs and what a shame it is that restorers remove interesting additions to get their tractors back to factory. Could it be that a Japanese farmer got tired of tripping over the foot throttle and took it off? Thats a kind of customization isn't it?
Having said that if other 1700 have it maybe you can get the parts and restore it to factory./w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

My YM1301D has one.
My YM1110D does NOT.
The F15D does.

My YM1700 (red) does not have the foot throttle. Based on what I have heard from others, the foot throttle and thermostart was optional equipment.

allenp,
Mine has both..........guess I got the deluxe version /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

My 155D does not have one, and I have been told that this hand throttle moves the opposite direction of the grays.

Bob, I'm sitting here looking at the original advertising literature for the lime green YM155D and it lists "throttle pedal" as standard US equipment right along with the offset drawbar, thermostart, and oneway clutch on the PTO. Any chance yours had that pedal at one time?

I've been looking at it. There are no cutouts or provisions for it in the right .. um.. floorboard... I soppose it could have been mounted to the side, etc. My hand throttle is a push off, style.

There is a protruding post from the side of the transmission housing that isn't hooked to anything.. but it is a big post... possibly something like possible opposite of where the clutch pedal is mounted on the other side. Any of you fine ym1700 owners out there have a digital cmaera? Could someone post a picture of their linkages and hte pedal setup on that side. Also, the gentleman with the red yanmar with no pedal, could I get a picture of your tractor on that side as well?

I have a strange idea. I've seen the green 1700's, and the red 1700's... I was told that my tractor was rebuilt when i bought it.. I wonder wha tthe possibility that my tractor used to be a red yanmar, and had the hood assemblies changed out? Ideas?

Soundguy,
The foot throttle does not go through a cut-out in the floorboard. I think it is kinda hinged/suspended from a post on the engine block. I will try to remember to snap a coiuple of pics tonight when I get home. I need to go out and re-introduce myself to the Yanmar anyway. I haven't seen it for 2 months.

Interesting... I think my tractor may have that post that you are talking about...

Roger, anything is possible - this Yanny had been rode hard and put away wet before I paid too much for it. Unfortunately it is about 4 hours away, and it will be another week or so before I get to go play with it again. I've looked at some of the throttle pix in this thread, so I will see if anything has been removed from that region (also, I couldn't locate a thermostart bowl, so I don't think I have that either).

Bob, don't look too hard at those pictures of the 1700's foot throttle in order to compare them with your YM155D. The US models had a completely different type of foot throttle parts and mounting. It tucked in much closer to the floorboard and pivoted inside a bushed bracket that was bolted to the underside of the floorboard.
The parts book lists both the thermostart and the foot throttle as optional systems, but according to the adv literature both were always included on the US models.
Both were available as kits.....and might still be for all I know. One of the dealers could probably get you a price. The throttle kit is #794340-01450.

Nice pic. My hand throttle is set up a little differed\nt than that... but the post is unmistakebly for a foot throtte.

Question.. do you push to kill, and pullto throttle up?

The 1110d that I'm looking at does not have one, but the nub is there for one. Question: if I got the parts used, could the linkage be reversed so that it becomes a declerator? A decelerator would be much more useful than an acclerator. Think about it: you set your rpms for the task, when you get to the end of the row, you stab the declerator to slow down and turn. Theoretically, it would be as simple as reversing some linkage at a pivot point.
