FOPS

Some of you know what this, and some don't. Some machines have ROPS, but most PT's have ROPS, and FOPS . It is simply Falling Object Protection System. A lot of tractors have ROPS, but not FOPS. Solid FOPS are better. Some Skidsteers, have a thick wire cage overhead, but sharp limbs can still come through the grid and stick you in the head. I like that 1/4 in steel over my head, even if I do bump my head on it every now and then. Anyway, now you know.

I still whack my head on it periodically -- doesn't hurt though. I padded the edges with self adhesive pipe insulation from Home Despot. It only has to be replaced when I rip it off against something that isn't hitting my face.

I like the ringing noise when a branch falls on the canopy --particularly when I think of the squishing noise that it would make if the FOPS weren't there.

It also makes a pretty good platform to stand on when you have to reach something up high.

Never used it for that.... good idea. I'll bet I could almost reach some of my gutters around back. Of course I have a home made roof over mine so thats out for now.

I like the ringing noise it makes between my ears when I bonk my head on it. I listen to it as I slowly make my way to the ground before the dark tunnel closes up in my vision.

MR...dark tunnels are one thing as long as you don't see a bright light coming toward you!! I don't currently have ROPS on my 422 but when I finally get into my woodland project a year or two from now you can be certain it will be installed!

My wife made me get a ROPS when i got the 422..sure am glad. I havent rolled but is sure does provide alot of protection in the woods.
