I was doing some grading on my property for drainage and concrete when I came across this book at my local Barnes and Nobles: Excavation and Grading Handbook by Nick and John Capachi [/I][/I]ISBN: 978-1-57218-173-1.

I'm not here to promote the book. I just ran into some problems when grading my 2 acres of land, and this book helped out a lot... Its more of what to do commercially, but I used it for the correct way to make basins, slopes, ditches, and apexes. Anyone who is planning on doing their own grading might want to check it out before hand.

What equipment did you need to get to finish the job, or did you get by with the equipment already on hand?

About 1/3 of the area shown in the picture will be concrete. I wasn't sure on how to grade for the concrete, which is 2% slope or 0.25 inches of fall for every 1 foot horizontally, and I also installed a french drain around the perimeter, which needs a 1% fall to drain properly. I used a 3320 with a disk and box to grade. I had no idea what degree of slopes to use, and I'm sure many others don't either, so this book can be handy to complete the projects properly.

Thanks for the tip. Everyone can always learn some new twist to doing the same ole thing. I am not an expert, so I may pick up that book for a project I have planned. Thanks.
