I recently concidered the 5500 and 4530 for my use. They were ideal for me and my jobs, but were just too big. I figured I'd need a heavier truck, f150 now, and trailer, 7000# now. I decided to get a compact tractor because I'm kinda remote and will need to trailer it to wherever it needs to be if there is a problem. I also live 140 miles away if I needed to bring it home. I really like the Mahindra's, but I ended up with a NH tc 40 because it was the best deal for me.

It sounds like your in the same boat as I was. Good luck!

Bruce,
Dave is right, being you have the JCB, to do the big jobs, a smaller more agile tractor is what you need. The 3215 HST with a ML111 loader, and a 60" or 72" rear finish mower would suit your needs very well. You will find the loader very handy for the numerous small jobs, which getting out the big machine would be unhandy for. Check out the 3215 it is a very comfortable, easy operating, agile tractor. I hope our honest opinion has been some help.

It's kind of funny in a way, buying my house was an easier decision to make. I finally got a chance tonight to stop by my local dealer (Hobby Tractor in Pleasant Grove, Ut). Very very helpful and friendly brothers/owners. I've talked to them before, but never got any pricing.
The difference between the 3510 to the 5500 4wd is not as great as I thought it would be (3k). What is really a sticker shocker is the FEL going from 4400.00 for the ML112 to 5400.00 for the ML245.
The dealer mentioned just the same as you wise folks online, cutting lawn with a utility tractor is not the way to go. You need something much lighter even with turf tires. Thanks, Dave and Galen!!
Just when I had narrowed down the search to either very small, like the 3510 or 3215, or very large like the 5500 4wd, I got an email from another dealer up north of here with a new (last years model) 4110 with remotes ML112 loader for 17,775.00. That's a saving of 5400.00 over a new one. Just when I had convinced myself not to get the 4110 because it's light weight and not a true Mahindra.
Well, it must be time to go to bed and sleep on it.

Just a note: The 3510 and the 4110 use the same frame. Engine HP is different. If the 4110 is a new "last years model", Id thing that might be a real deal. BobG in VA

I think you'd be very pleased with the 4110, though I do think it'd be too heavy for general use as a mower. They are tough, heavy machines. I have a forester/wildlife biologist acquaintence that runs a couple of the 4110's in his consulting business (clearing forest lanes, spraying forest understory, working foodplots, etc.) and he loves them. I initially checked out the Mahindra brand based on his recommendation. Since I didn't need the size/HP of the 4110, I opted for the 2615.

Good luck,

My personal opinion is anything bigger than a 3215 would be heck on grass. I'd probably opt for a smaller tractor than even the 4110. The price on it is right, but generally you can buy them with a fel for 19 to 20 depending on location with fel, so even though it's way under msrp, as a dealer here told me you could retire if you sold them at msrp.

Well, we now know that with a bigger tractor we're going to have to bite the bullet and also get a regular riding mower, I guess there is only so much you can ask of one piece of equipment.
Yesterday I emailed the dealer up north and ask a couple of questions about how many hrs. on it etc.. So far I've had no response. I'm not sure what think about that.
In the mean time, I contacted my other dealer who is much closer to where I live anyway. He said that if the tractor is still on the distributor inventory, he can just transfer it down here and I can buy it through him. So, he says he called many many times today and finally got ahold of the salesman that sent me the email with the price (17,775).
Well, now the dealer down here says that he didn't think they would honor the price because, he say's its less then they paid for it.
Kind of sounds like I'm in for the continuing saga of "As the tractor turns" or maybe "All my implements"
I'll give the up north dealer a call tomorrow and see what the story is.
If it's still on the market for the 17.7k it's going to be mine.
I did find out that the dealer up north purchased it last June (its a 2005 model), it has 3 hrs. on it and it also has the quik connect on the ML112, and the optional remote. Great!! just can't pass it up, although you know what is said about a deal that is too good to be true.

Well, it's a done deal. Took Friday off work and drove north with the cashiers check and the 4110 is mine (and the banks). The dealer couldn't find the operators manual, so for now I'll just have to guess at what does what until the manual comes in. We'll try to get the neighbor boy with their riding mower to do the mowing for this season.
Now, if I only had some implements so I could actually use the tractor!!
With the FEL I can at least muck out the sheep area's. We had brought all the ewe's home from the farm to lamb earlier this year, and they made quite a mess of the round pen. Thirty lambs this year and we never lost a one.
For the sake of being able to use my existing trailer, I'm glad I didn't get any bigger of a tractor. I'd say the 4110 was just about the limit for the trailer and my truck.

Congrats! I know you'll be pleased with the 4110. Don't let the lack of implements stop you. I'm sure you can find plenty of work for that FEL if you look hard enough. The day my 2615 was delivered, I strapped my trash can to the FEL and took it to the top of the drive. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Seat time is seat time, no matter what the task.

Keep us posted and get some pictures of it in action.
