? for JD experts 480B forklift

hi,
i have a JD480B forklift.
does anyone know what "tractor" it was based on?
i need a tractor and was thinking if i could convert the 480 into one by taking off the mast, adding a 3ph and pto, and getting/finding/making sheet metal/parts to turn the seat/steering around.

or just buy a new tractor:confused3:

What yr is your 480? Tractor model equal to 480 could possibly be 2030 or 2440 as all 3 models share a 4 cyl engine. Installing the L/D shaft with mechanism & rockshaft housing with 3 pt would be no easy task as one would need to disassemble the forklifts trans/differential. I'll suggest to trade forklift for a tractor.

And that's just to get the 3pt hitch. The PTO would be even harder to add. I saw (on tractorhouse) an Industrial loader tractor minus 3pt and PTO I passed on.

It was based around the 401 industrial tractor, which was mostly a 2440. Pretty much everything behind the clutch housing is different though, the transmission is reversed to provide 8 "forward" gears which would be reverse for a tractor.
The axle housing isnt machined for a 3pt, drawbar, PTO, or Rockshaft.
I would sell the forklift, and buy a tractor...
