As indicated by others, you should have nothing to worry about. I only know of one way those inquiries are flagged. In some states, I don't believe FL is one, if someone is on probation or parole their PO would get a notice the tag or license had been run. For this to happen, the name and tag would have to had been previously flagged.

Neat info. Yeah.. he said a few codes I didn't catch when he called in my license number. I heard the ?dispatcher call back some info.. most of it sounded like my description.. white/male.. etc..

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( The Flashlite thing is also a standard procedure as it temporary blinds you and gives the officer a fighting chance )</font>

It works! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I couldn't even keep my eyes open.. I just stared in his direction with them closed till he kinda aimed it a little bit more ahead of me.

</font><font color="blue" class="small">( If you are pulled over in the future , Keep both hands on the steering wheel with your fingers extended while talking to him . You should see him relaxed some and it just might get you out of a deserved ticket to boot .
)</font>

Cool.. maybee that helped. I DID have my hands on the wheel the whole time he talked, save when he asked for my drivers lic.

Perhaps that made the difference?

Either way.. I'm glad it went down good.

I fixed the tag lamp that night in the walmart parking lot. I checked it real good too, in case he went to pull me over agin when leaving wallmart.. as I was literally pulle dover right across from one.. and when I left.. I pulle dright into their parking lot.

I got stopped by a Florida State Trooper a couple of weeks ago for 72 in a 55 zone (rural state highway; no traffic). I was comfortable with my speed but not paying attention to it; I say him coming at me, and didn't think anything of it -- until I saw, in the mirror, him jam on his brakes and bury the nose of the cruiser. I looked down at the speedo -- 72.

I waited for him to turn around and indicate he wanted me to pull over. When he approached, I had my hands in plain view and the window down. I had my wallet out already and sitting on the console. He asked for license and registration. I gave him the license, and indicated that the registration was in the glove compartment, and asked his permission to get it. He said, "That's OK, I get the ownership when I call it in." He then told me he had clocked me on radar at 72 mph. My comment was, "You got it dead on. That's exactly what I saw when I looked down, after I saw your brake lights." Then, he asked when I last got a ticket, and I said, "18 years ago."

He went back and ran his wants and warrants, then he came back with a printout from his computer. "This is a warning", he said, "You're getting it because you were honest. If you had tried to give me a story, you would have gotten a ticket."

I thanked him, and said, "This is the most effective thing you could have done. I drive this route all the time. I usually run around 70. Now, I 'm going to have to cut it back every trip, because I never know when I'll see you again, and I know there won't be any more watrnings." He laughed, said, "That's the point", and waved. I've been keeping it under 65 since then, and have seen him a couple of more times. The last time, he waved at me.

My wife used to work in a police, fire and ambulance dispatch unit. Running someone's license and registration happened all the time. The system they used at the time was inquiry only, they did not keep track of them.

10 - 28 - registration check (is the vehicle really yours?)
10 - 29 - NCIC check (are you wanted?)

Jeez.. I'm glad I don't live in MA then. I get no less than 3, most of the time 5-7 seatbelt tickets a year. NOT wearing my seatbelt has saved me from countless speeding tickets... you know... "Well buddy.. you were speeding pretty good but I'm gonna let you off easy with a seatbelt ticket this time.. slow it down". Seatbelt tickets don't go on your insurance in NC so I'm extremely glad they don't track how many I get. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It used to seem to amaze a lot of small town officers to learn that I didn't know the "10 codes". /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif The only one we used in Dallas was 10-4 (acknowledgment) so I had no reason to learn the others. We had our own "codes"; e.g. "signal 7" for a motor vehicle accident, "signal 11" for a burglary, etc. (they went from 7 to 51) and there was no secret to them; we'd give a list of them to anyone who asked, the numbers were really just for the paperwork, computers, etc. Of course all the calls used to be dispatched using the signal number. And then we hired some dispatchers with northern accents. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Twice in one night, as a lieutenant, I made emergency runs, red lights and siren, on "assist officer" calls only to learn that the dispatcher didn't really say "signal 15". /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif So, after I sent a letter to the chief we changed to dispatching all calls using plain english. After all, it doesn't take any longer to say "a burglary" (or whatever kind of call) than it does to say "signal 11" and we learned that alpha words were less likely to be misunderstood than numeric words. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

While this is true, it's not relevant to Soundguy's concern which was if he was stopped again would the officer know about the first inquiry. The answer to that question is no.

In Mass, no seatbelt = ticket. Ticket =higher insurance for 6-years + the ticket $$$$.

Yes. I have a seatbelt ticket "budget" laid out every year. We have the ticket fee, but not the insurance ramifications. At current pricing, its worth the fee for me to not have to wear seatbelts. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I see enough cops yearly to have seen good ones and bad ones. I am very polite with the good ones and even joke with them that they'll probabIy be seeing me again soon. I am not as patient as some of the posters above when I encounter the bad ones. I actually had one threaten to arrest me and give me a seatbelt ticket anyway when I had one on (I beat it in court because he admitted it). I was in the passenger seat in my best freinds car. He wears his seatbelts and ask that I do also when in his car and I honor his wishes but wear the shoulder strap under my arm. We were in the left hand turning lane and a cop pulled up on my side and grabbed his seatbelt in a motion to signify that I needed to put mine on. I showed him that I had it on but it was under my arm, but he made me roll the window down so he could gripe at me and tell me to put it on my shoulder. I refused and said I was following the law. I was wearing the seatbelt and told him "respectfully, you are overstepping your authority" . He took offense to that and it was "on" from then on. Thank goodness the judge had some sense.. he even scolded the cop for harrassing me. I just hope I never see that cop again or I'll probably find out what real harrassment is.
