turnerbend, all I did was to pull a wire piggyback straight from the fuse block and used the gauge bracket mounting screw for the ground. If you plan to drill a hole for the gauge most any bolt or screw will give you a good ground, just get down to bare metal. Of course I say get to bare metal but my ground was simply slipped under a sheet metal scew and was a good enough ground. Nice old building in your profile. Oh for the light just pull off the hot side of the voltmeter. Make sure the terminal you come off at the fuse block is not constant hot, must be controlled by switch. If the gauge light works you have a good ground.
