Made an ell shaped long handle tool for ash dump and coals collection for our Buck model 91 in 1991.

Vornado room humidifier. Two wicks, two, 2gallon tanks. Add one ounce of hydrogen peroxide when filling tanks with tap/spring water. Prevents any slime and valance adjustment of minerals makes the wicks last all season. Wicks are like white coral limestone at season end and still wick 1-2 gallons per day. Evaporation is self regulating.

I just have the fan on the forces air furnace turn on every 30 minutes to circulate air throughout the house. The circulated air doesn’t feel hot, but over several hours it will equalize the temperature in the house, taking the heat from the living room stove area and warming the back rooms.
It's not for the house, but I installed a barrel stove in my of my vaulted ceiling (open rafter) shop years ago. For better or worse it's located at the front of the shop in-between the equipment double doors and man-door due to being the safest location (most clearance available from flammable items).

Works a treat in the winter..... for the front half of the shop. They aren't installed yet, but this fall I finally got around to purchasing to mid-sized shop fans and have plans to mount them in the rafters at some point - One of the near the stove pipe & blowing across the the length of the rafters and at the far side of the shop the other angled somewhat downward from the rafters. Hopefully once wired to a switch they will help with better heat distribution in the winter & in the summer maybe help with perceived comfort if I change the air flow direction.

Regarding the mention of fireplace gloves...

Harbor Fright carries long insulated leather welding gloves that have worked well over the last few years for fireplace duty...

One very additional item is a young strong back!

I keep a bag of chimney fire stop by the stove. Don't expect to ever need it but it's there.

Mag torch and pine cones for an almost instant fire start.

Leather welding gloves. Second is a small plastic brush and dust pan combo.
I prefer a small metal dust pan and a natural bristle paint brush (doesn't smell as bad)

I made my sifter out of some 3/4" expanded metal, bent both sides and one end. Wired it to an old ash shovel handle after cutting the shovel part off.

I've been using a kitty litter sifting scoop. It's a bit too fine a sift.
I like to see the "bio-char" make it's way out to the gardens along with the ash.

We have acid soils here.
