sorry it took me so long to respond 3RRL, but I can't stop laughing about your "mild winter...":laughing:
There's a Canadian company called Johnson Seeds, who helped in the development of a hybrid called 18th green bentgrass. It was designed originially (I think) for Fairbanks Alaska... pretty hardy. My choice for the golf course is a product marketed here by Evergro called Dominant Extreme... pretty much a similar cold weather grass, with a few disease resistant genetic markers...
As for the need tfor accuracy... it's an optical illusion... There are wide open areas in amongst the tree trunks and there's almost always an easy chip out.
