those old challangers are pretty big! Or did you say carger? forgot now.
anyhow the local assphalt track is rulled by a old ~93 ford cop car, 4 dr crown vic! lol you oudt to hear the chebby guys cry about that! lol... little old 4.6 ltr really runs good at RPM up. automatic and smash it to the floor! guy hardly brakes, the chebbys are glowing rotors just trying to keep up in the corners, and keep crying that he has DONE something to it that they think IS or SHOULD be illigal! lol... they keep saying no big 4 dr is gonna out run my malibu/chevelle or what not when they use 350's! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
(my old room mate had/has a kick [censored] 69 Roar Runner, with 383 & 4 speed, it was one of only a FEW cars that could be my old cougar...) we used to street race (ya not smart) a lot back then. big thing in Whichita at the time. I think we were only ever beat by a couple mustangs and ONE chebby which was running nitros but that chebby ran so hot he had to spray water on it between races @ the car wash LOL....
It was ammazing that the (then new) 87 stangs were so fast! one of our buddies took a STOCK LX hatchback (less than 500 miles on it) and won the local auto cross matches aginst specfically built cars! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
I gave it up avter almost buying an SS monty-carlo whit 2nd gear and went 90 degrees and was hood to door with him... (he would have lost big time,) luckly he was a good enough driver to get out of my sort of uncontrolled way. He was in right hand lane, I had a barrier next to me... it felt a bit too close for confort! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif about 3 days later, I stopped my street racinf affair, as we took out the 69 RR and did the exact same thing except it was 3rd gear and went 90 degrees into oncomming traffic! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif (no one was comming for a LONG ways, but just the same.) ( same week myself and the guy with the STANG both got busted for speeding, (I got a 70 MPH and him for 71) by the same cop. luckly he clocked us EARLY in the run... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif we COULD have lost our licence easy, but he gave us a break and DIDN't say we were RACING. just the same 70 in a 45 was bad enough! (I think it was some think like $240.00 fine... and both of us had out of state licences (military) so we didn't get them taken for the more than 20 over.) also we did our racing on BACK ROADS which were 4 lanes wide, not the MAIN drag like is popular in some places. always TRIED to be safe, just no place to really race there then... (oh that cop was on a street bike, and was setting in a culdesac hidden) when he said he clocked us at the 70 speed, I was kind of like (WHEEUHAA) (as the speedo stopped regestering that day.) /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif we kinda figured we were gonna get towed & jailed! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif luckly we didn't try to LIE our way out of it, and such.
about 3 weeks later the roommate with the 69 RR got busted driving @ 143MPH in a 45! running a 83 TURBO DAYTONA we had tweeked out. topped the hill crest and there sat 3 more bikes... (he pulled over and stepped out to wait for em.)
they could have gotten him MUCH worse too as there were open containers in back. wasn't drinking at time, but had just installed a NEW 150/160 MPH speedo & wanted to SEE how fast it REALLY was... (that car would light em up at just about any speed below 60 with a foot stomp )
