ford 1210
ok guys i serviced my neighbours tractor the other day with new oil filter new oil and new air filter as well as a new fuel filter

its a ford 1210

after servicing the fuel filter i filled the bowl back up and then cracked the 10mm breather at the injector pump

shortly after the tractor started loosing power and smoking black smoke very heavy

there is no fuel in the coolant or no fuel in the oil and theres no oil in the coolant and theres no fuel in the coolant so i don't believe the motors shot
but it dose sound like it had a knock when i try to idle it up as well as it dose not idle up it will only heavily black smoke at anything other then idle

need help here guys this one has stumped me

Did "U SEE" it run before working on it.?? Just un-do what u had done.. take the air filter out..
Compare the #'s on the FF..NOT from the same site u got the #'s before.. compare the actual FF if possible..
Make SURE all the oring seals are intact & not "shaved" or cut..

Yes I drove the tractor from the neighbours place to my shop and then drove it back to his place.

He went and weed sprayed for about a hour after and thaya when it started smoking.

Ive cracked the injectors and I get a really good squirt out of the nut on the top of the injector from the furthest injector from the front. And as I keep going forward I seem to get less and less fuel coming out of the lines and the tractor wants to die if I crack the front one closest to the rad.

Anyone have any kind of problems with there injectors after a fuel filter service.

Anyone have any ideas of what or where my problem could be. I am going to take off the lines today and blow them out after work

As well as possibly pull a injector out and see if I can re connect it and try and watch the spray pattern coming out of the end. If that will work

Is the Injector Pump Oil Cooled ?
Sometimes there is a diaphram seal and they can leak after an oil change !

Did the Neighbor say what happened in the Field during spraying ?

How old are the injectors ? One could be partially open, loosened dirt !

The unit has 630 hours on it and I don稚 think the injectors have been touched

Can anyone verify how much / how the fuel should be coming out of the injector pump with no lines attached. As I took the lines off the injection pump and cranked the motor to watch the fuel come out and it just shoots small marble sized drops of fuel out of the pump. All the 3 are putting out the same amount of fuel and the tractor will run at a low idle and that痴 all once you try and go for more throttle the motor smokes black smoke and won稚 rev up.

I blew out the lines and re bread them this afternoon and still the same problem.

Has anyone rebuilt an injector pump of the pump has went or has anyone rebuilt any injectors / cleaned them before

Thanks

The fuel is measured in graduates on a test stand.. so many rpms w/x amount of rack, compared to a factory test sheet.. then adjustments are made.. ON A TEST STAND.
DO NOT under ANY circumstances start adjusting on an injection pump..{moving screws}

In reff. to your last sentence.. does THE PUMP GUY SC strike any cords.??
I've been rebuilding pumps & injectors & turbos for a living, for 30+ years.

As far as cracking the lines AT THE INJECTORS.. the one that shuts the engine down IS the good one.. the others are iffy..
or at least u narrowed it down to the problem cylinder.. its either the pump.. the injectors.. or u have a problem w/ the engine cylinders.??
The injectors are less expensive to check & rebuild compared to the pump.. ALWAYS do the injectors first..
U can click on my screen name to the left & go to my info to get in-touch w/ me.. if needed.
BUT.. THAT being said, IF IT RAN OK when u drove it to your house.. Did u happen to shut off the fuel??
Did u happen to kink a rubber fuel line.?? Changing the filters wouldn't have the effect your describing..
BUT then again, most people don't change the filters until theres a problem.. so u mighta just stepped on a hornets nest..
& the neighbor is gonna blame U..
IF it has an electric feed/supply pump on it, make sure u didn't acid. unplug it.

1 more thing.. sinse u took the lines OFF THE PUMP, chances are u loosened the holders on the pump.?? even tho it might not "look like it"..
They MUST BE tightened w/ a TORQUE WRENCH to 30-35 FT lbs..
Inside the pump is a metal to metal seal.. if that seal isn't tight {loose holders} all sorts of problems start up..
& IF u tighten them to much, u put the pump in a bind & it distorts the metal..
A torque wrench must be used to tighten the holders back to spec..

Check the fuel flow to the injector pump. I have had several tractors where the screen in the tank is clogged and you don't get enough fuel to the injector pump.
