ford 1300 hydraulc fill plug

added hydraulic fluid to my ford 1300 with loader and backhoe. as I was screwing the fill plug back in I broke the top off of it. it seems to be made out of a fiber material or it is just that the plastic like material was deteriorating, anyway I was wondering if anyone knows if a pipe plug would work if so please specify what size and thread type fits. the reason being that I am not going to attempt to get the broken off piece out until I have something to put back because as it is it is keeping the dirt out although I can"t screw it out to add oil. thanks in advance for any info. 01hunter570

It's something like the old days phones were made of, it's gonna be some kind of metric thread, don't think it was a pipe thread as it had an o-ring at the flange, I think I'd order the right one, it'll last another 30 years and isn't too expensive

Messicks sells new metal plugs, or did, I broke mine a few years ago.

thank you to everyone who took the time to reply. a special thank you to joecdeere for posting the thread for the parts list. I have called messicks and my fill plug is on the way for about $23 dollars with the shipping. that seems like enough for a plug but like you said it will probably last a long while especially if it is metal like the one drakefamily2 received. the reason i was thinking a pipe plug I looked on the internet last night before posting here and the only 1 I found was $70 without shipping which I thought was totally insane. I was going to call a salvage place to get one but then it is probably starting to disintegrate due to age just like mine so I went for the new one. again thanks for all the help whenever I need info I get on here and there is always someone knowledgeable and willing to take time to help. god bless you all.
