I had purchased a Ford 1300 for a song (I don't sing very well) and have had the typical engine problems. As I sometimes think of myself as being mechanically inclined I have installed a Chevette diesel that seems to fit very well, with some very minor things left to finish.

that said however.. I'm not aware of any 'endemic' problems to the subcut ford diesels.. at least noting other than operator induced ones.. etc.

:welcome: logguy! Perhaps you might be singing the blues if you ever have a problem with the engine. Shibaura diesels are well supported by your local New Holland dealer. Chevette diesels are rare since GM only produced about 1500 of them. That said, if it was cheap and you have expertise with the GM diesel, then it all might work out.:thumbsup:

Wow, I did have a Chevy Chevette last year of college that performed admirably specially going downhill, although I called it Chevy sh** for a variety of reasons.. I bought it for $250 in an auction as my Buick engine developed a bad knock and needed to have wheels. I did not know they had a diesel version of it.
What ails your 1300? did you make new frame for the tractor to mount the engine on. would love to see the picture of the beast.
