Ford 1300 Transmission Dipstick?

Hello

I just purchased a 1979 Ford 1300 4x4 diesel tractor. The rubber on the trans dipstick is loose and I have no idea the location it is suppose to be on the stick.

I can't check for the proper oil level.

I was wondering if maybe some one could maybe measure there's from the tip to the base? I have this example picture.

Here is a few shots showing what I mean about the rubber moving.

I just went out and measured my transmission dipstick. It is 8 inches even where you are taking the measurments from. My dipstick is straight all the way up to the finger plll loop. My 1300 is 2 wheel drive. I don't know if 4x4 is any different. Hope this helps.

I will straighten the bend in mine. I didn't think it should be like that.

Surely the 2 wheel drives and the 4x4's would be the same.

Now I know how far from the end it should be and I can file me a reference mark on the stick.
