Ford 1300
Well its time for me to upgrade to some horsepower so I can mow and get some much needed power steering. The boss lady even gave me the go ahead. I do nee to sell my 1980 Ford 1300 first. I got a trade-in value of $3500 from a dealer, but that seems low to me. Any ideas on what this is worth would be appreciated.

Craigslist add:

1980 Ford 1300 4wd tractor with front end loader. I've had this tractor for 10 years now and it has never let me down. Everything works. New front end loader controls last year. Always starts even on really cold days.

- Includes a 4 foot brush hog brand mower that is rough, but works fine.
- I included a picture of the hour meter. My guess is 1243 hours, but I have no way of confirming that.

Thanks

Brad

I don't think your dealer is too far off. There was someone near here selling a 1300 with 4wd and a Ford loader for around 5 grand recently. I'm sure someone negotiated him down to 4500 or 4000.

Your dealer probably will have to fix a few things, do a fluids change, lube it and check it out, etc. The machine has no ROPS and no power steering. Not terribly desirable to most folks. The cutter is worth nearly nothing to the dealer.

I'm a huge fan of the Ford xx00 series of compact tractors. I own a Ford 1700 that has been in my family for 30 years. My dad owns a 1900 with loader. Both of our Fords are 4wd and in great shape with a little under 2k hours.

If I were in your position, I would try to sell the machine myself and expect to get around 4500 for it. I also might try negotiate with the dealer to keep the old cutter and sell it for 300 bucks or so if that would make a difference to you.

Good luck. What tractor(s) are you looking at to buy?

Well after doing some research I was thinking somewhere around $4,700 so I will stick to the $4,500 to $4,800 range.

I'm looking at a Kubota or New Holland in the 35 -40 hp range. Mostly it will come down to what is most comfortable and has the best dealer. I haven't even decided on new or used yet.

The Mahindra just didn't fit right. I don't like the John Deere dealership plus they are a little out of the price range. LS, Kioti, Yanmar, Massey don't have dealers anywhere near me.

Thanks for the help. I'm already thinking I'm going to regret selling my little tractor. We've spent a lot of time together over the past 12 years.

Traded in my 1985 Ford 1310 to the Kubota dealer for $3500 CAD in 2008. Like yours the hour meter rolled back to 0 after 999.9 so no way to know for sure.

Mine didn't have a FEL but the 1310 is a 3cylinders 19 HP Shibaura while yours is 2 cylinders and 16HP so theres that.

It was a great little tractor and did a terrific job with a snow blower but was way too small for everything else.

Sold for $4500 no problem. I could've probably stuck it out for a few hundred more, but it's nice to sell it fast. I bought it 12 years ago for $6,000 and have only put a new FEL controller in it. I've put a bunch of hours on it so I feel like I did pretty good. Sad to see her go, but off to go shopping!!!!!

Congrats on the sale. I think 4500 is a fair price.
