Ford 1310 - where is reverse?

It痴 rather embarrassing but I can稚 figure out how to shift my Ford 1310 tractor in to reverse. I even purchased the operators manual but it doesn稚 specify how to shift it into reverse either. I have the main shifter on the steering column and the gear shift diagram only shows 1-4. I致e tried every combination of the main shifter and the gear shift but nothing seems to work.

I'm not familiar with that tractor but found this on Google. Does it make any sense?

Yep, that doesn’t match mine. It only has the four gears 1-4

If tractor data is correct it has 12 forward speeds and 4 reverse
so a 4 speed main and a Hi, Mid, Low and reverse aux transmission

Lever on the left hand side of the steering column, forward is up, reverse is down toward you.

That doesn’t seem to work so there must be something wrong with the main shifter.

Lift the "main shifter" up and pull down.
That is reverse.
Down down is 3rd gear forward.
down up is 1st, up up is 2nd.

OR if easier to understand,
Down/forward is 1st gear forward.
Up/forward is 2nd.
Down/back is 3rd.
Up/back is reverse.

The 4 speed is a range shifter, the higher the number, the faster the ground speed.

That sounds like an old 3 on the tree or column mounted 3sp shifter for pickups and cars.

Just remembered a problem I had.
As in your case, shifter didn't respond.
Problem was a roll pin in the linkage came out.
See picture, located where main shifter goes below dashboard.
