Ford 1710 Crankshaft replacement

As a 1710 owner, over the years I've taken notice that it may not be a huge failure rate, but it does seem to happen. Since I've come across a good many high hour tractors as well, it's very possible that if there is a flaw in the crank it will happen during the early hours.

I believe you are right, generally if there is a significant "flaw" the component will fail early in life.

Hi Scottlep1: I also have a Shibaura H843 from a Ford 1710 completely disassembly in my garage. (spun #3 rod bearing) Where are you finding repair parts for your engine? Online

I got the crank from Steiners.....online. The bearings, seal,s gaskets, etc I got from a local New Holland dealer. You can also try Messick's online. They have the full technical drawings on line with prices, part numbers and availability for the parts.

I would do a lot of looking and checking on that motor . cranks do not break with out reasons! did the person u bought the tractor from say what happened? buyer be where!

This post is 3 years old. Anyway.....the crank had broke because the motor was run low on oil. This in turn spun a main bearing which heated up the crank at the main bearing journal enough that the crank broke at the main baring support area. The motor has been rebuilt and runs like a top.

I actually welded up the old crank and turned it into some yard art.
