1985 Ford 1710 4WD
I have a 1985 Ford 1710 that has spun a rod bearing!

Upon disassembly I have also determined that the head is pretty bad shape also

I need to locate either another engine, a supplier of a engine overhaul kit including a crankkit, and/or places to look for used parts for my project.

Thanks - Jeff

From reading other posts on the same subject I think your only choice is yuor Ford/Newholland dealer.

I have just checked with my local dealer, the crank was $1200 and the head was $1700. They made a couple quick calls to a engine rebuilder they deal with and they didn't have the parts or a engine assembly. They are going to try to locate some used parts or another engine for me, but it does not look like their is alot of stuff available for my little 1710.

Thanks for your reply - Jeff

Looked at the engine "block" on ebay, and does appear to be all cleaned up and the price is still down in the pennies. The block that I have is cleaned up and appears to be usable, the crank and head is what I am needing to locate. I am afraid that ebay seller is probably in a similar boat, and that is why they have the seperate block for sale and not the complete engine...

Are undersized bearing avilable. Crankshafts can be ground. Or a good crankshaft grinder can weld yours up and grind it back to standard size.

I have finally located someone locally to rework the crank for me, should be done in a week or so!

Thanks for all your replies - Jeff
