not stupid.. we just need to make sure we read the info inthe posts to give the question asker the best possible info.
it sounds like he has a gauge sender issue if I am understanding his problem correctly.. IE.. key on, and gauge maxes out before it's even started. if that is so..
rad flush and cleaning and water pump health, belts, etc, won't even come into play... yet, anyway..
I think Soundguy is right...the gauge says hot when the key is out of the tractor and not running. it must be something in the wiring? I just bought this tractor knowing it needs some things tended to. I have taken some precautionary measures to try too assure that I wont hurt the engine until this issue is fixed such as some of the things like radiator flush. i have even looked inside the radiator too see what the fluid is doing when running and there seems to be a little movement, which leeds me to believe the thermostat is opening. In most the research I have done it has been said that when the wire attached to the temp sensor is touched to a ground the gauge needle should move. That is not the case with me, it moves when i touch the wire to a positive source such as the positive side of starter or battery. Thanks for all the input thus far from all! Eventually one of us will come up with a solution.
