Ford 1720 - How to disengage 4WD?

Hi, I just bought a Ford / New Holland 1720 (1999) in "as is" condition, no operators manual included. It seems to be stuck in 4WD, or I just might not know how to shift it to 2WD. Could someone describe the process for putting it in 2WD? Thanks!

(I ordered an operators manual at Ford 1720 Operators Manual, but was hoping to do work over the weekend and didn't want to keep in 4WD as I have to travel a bit on the paved roads...)

The 4wd shift lever on my 1920 sticks often and I 'rock' the tractor front/back on level ground to create a little tranny play while I am working the 4wd shift lever. Sometimes it takes a few tries but mine has worked so far.

ditto that. the shifter on my 1920 stuck sometimes to. deffinately try to shift it while rocking. and not on asphalt or concrete. in soft ground helps. no driveline run up..e tc..

You can also lift the front tires with the loader bucket, then 2WD is easy to shift into.

I crawl along at idle speed, give the (foot) throttle a quick tap and pull the 4WD lever right at that momoment (when you've lifted the throttle) and there's no torque on the drive train. So easy, it almost goes in/out by itself.
