Bill,
The hot still on the right and cold is on the left of the dial. The only goofy thing was that in normal off position the needle rests on the right side. I found it bassackward when I first saw it convinced that there was something wrong there. Only by testing and after reading the manual I realized by design the needle rests passed hot when off... go figure
